Harriet flies from the front pine this morning and lands in the nest. Something we haven't seen her do in a while. With E6 out on his lifes journey, Harriet now can safely enter the nest without getting her feet attacked by E6 looking for food. Harriet stands there a few seconds then in comes PB to the porch branch then into the nest. PB does a bit of aerating ,more like maybe looking for food. Harriet watches then there was some beak-bonking going on. I think Harriet is letting PB know this is still her nest and she is the boss. Harriet leaves for the west treeline. PB follows not to long after. Harriet comes back with a small branch with pine on it. Aww Harriet is attempting to do some nest building while Ozzie is still at CROW. PB is still in the west treeline. Harriet doesn't stay long and leaves out towards the Norfolk pine which she goes past possibly because she still had a crow chasing her. After about 5 mins, PB leaves the west treeline and heads for the norfolk pine flies past it also. Maybe they went to the pond for breakfast or another tree in that area.
Eventually we spot one of them in the norfolk pine. I'm thinking it's Harriet . Harriet leaves then one is back again this time it looks to be PB. It's such a distance that if they are not sitting just right I can't get a good ID on them. Who ever it was leaves again. Before I left this time I could tell it was Harriet back in the norfolk pine around 9:06 am. I have a feeling my days will going like this until Ozzie gets back. I do hope Harriet continues to stay in the nest area and try to do some nestorations . Right now it seems like PB is not in the same how should I say it ..oh frame of mind as Harriet. She is doing what she has always done with Ozzie after the kids have left the area and that's to start rebuilding the nest. He seems to be a young 5 yr old... maybe just turned 5 yrs and has never done this before. So we really can't fault him for not helping Harriet out or stealing E6's food which really helped E6 in keeping his food covered, well sometimes....
This is all a wait and see right now. See what Harriet does or doesn't do, see how long PB will stay around now or after Ozzie gets home. There is no doubt in my mind that Ozzie will reclaim what is his. Harriet , the nest and his territory. I like some many of you hope and pray to God that Ozzie doesn't have to fight hard for what is his. I have read that sometimes it takes both mates to run another Eagle out of their area. So maybe that's just what it will take for PB to leave......
Oh and before I forget....... I will answer this Q just one last time... PB is FV . I will always call him that until Ozzie's return and if Ozzie can not be released and PB stays around and is renamed or it stays FV by SWFLEC then and only then will I call him FV. PB stands for PublixBoy. I called him Publix because of where he would go when Harriet chased him out of the nest area. Wskers added the "Boy" saying we need two names so she can just use the initials when texting her report to the mods. Less letters to type..... This name of FV was changed from PB, from what I understand because a couple of people didn't like the name that I and another photographer came up with to help out a mod that couldn't ID any of the visitors that were showing up at the nest. Between her and I we had photo ID's on all that showed up to compare , to see if we had repeat visitors or if they are new ones coming into the area. We had at least 7 to possible 10 different Eagles of different ages and genders show up. How we knew the genders.. by size and vocals. Yes the vocals. We could tell the males from the females by the vocals. The males all sounded like Ozzie ( Ozzie is a bit rasper/hoarser than the other males ) and the females like Harriet. There was one female we thought was Harriet at first but then we realized, she wasn't big enough to be Harriet. We had anywhere from 2-2 1/2yr olds all the way up to full adults..... So I hope this answers the burning question of who is PB .
