Harriet does a little bit of preening then back to looking towards the NW. E7 is sitting up watching Mom. E7 lays down and now E8 does a wing stretch . Both are sitting up checking out the world around them. Harriet scratches her head then turned towards the nest now and then heads back to the nest tree. Around 7:14 am Harriet leaves the nest tree heading over me and to the SE . 7:30 am Harriet returns with a stick. E7 looks like she is trying to help Mom with the placement or thought it was food. Mom leaves the nest tree for the right pond tree. A couple of crows are sitting there and take off as Harriet lands. One starts to dive bomb Harriet while the other one sits on the other branch.
Harriet done with looking around the nest area, flies back to the nest tree. This right now seems to be the routine. Back and forth. Harriet leaves the nest tree heading NW . Well maybe she'll bring food this morning. She's gone about 2 mins when here she comes with some kind of road kill. Harriet feeds the kids then off to the SE . About 4 mins later here comes Dad with some kind of road kill also. Must have been a special on road kill today. The other day was a buy one get one free on Opossum then all you can eat fish on Tuesday. Now this is where the fun begins. Dad lands with the prey, E8 goes for the food and E7 is in between 8 and Dad, it stays this way throughout the whole feeding. E8 is very quick on his grabs. E7 sits there with this WTH look on her face as E8 is busy grabbing every bite. E7 does manage to get a few bites. Something catches Dad's eye several times during the feeding and E8 starts to take matters into his own beak & talons. E8 manages to get a piece of the food and as he is gulping it down and from where I am standing it looks like it has a tail on it. E8 is working on getting it down and the tail is sticking out of his beak..lol Dad checks on E8 but he is determined to get down. E7 is watching E8 also ,again with that OMG look . E7 has in my opinion really taken a few pointers from E8 on this snatch -n- grab for food lately. She's not as quick as E8 but she is getting there. It will be fun watching as they start to grab and mantle the food. E8 goes in for another big piece and down the hatch with that one. Now E8 gets a really big piece and I'm thinking ohhh boy how well is this one going to go down. Well Dad thinks it to big and tries to take it from E8 . E8 not having that. So a very short tug -of- war ensues and E8 wins and this whole time E7 is just watching and waiting. E8 drops the piece ,all three go for it and E7 comes up the victor . LOL Watching and waiting paid off for E7. Good job ! Dad tries to take it and E7 is not letting him . She turns her back quickly on Dad and E8 and moves away. Now whether she ate it or not ,I do not know. But it was awesome to watch.
The feeding over with ,Dad heads over to the porch branch. He's watching the sky and then off he goes towards the SW. The wind really picked up so it was time for me to go. As I head home, no one on the poles but did see the Sable Springs pair on their poles. It was really good to see them . I haven't seen them in a long time which tells me that they must have a baby or two also. I smile as I go past knowing that there will be more kids up in the sky enjoying their freedom soon..................
I feel as though I was there! Thank you!
